A hope for albinos in Burkina Faso

The Burkinabè government has pledged to invest in the fight against albinlsm-related diseases during the JISA 2019 International Albinism Awareness Day.

Albinism is a disability characterized by low vision and skin problems. From 2014 to now, ABIPA has recorded about ten deaths caused by skin cancer.
For more than fifteen years, the Burkinabè Association for the Inclusion of Albino People (ABIPA) has been leading a campaign of awareness, education and training through the regions: the mouhoun loop, the center and the high basins. These actions were made possible thanks to partnership of the dermatology society of butkina and the dupon organization for social development (ODDS)
During the international albinism awareness day (JISA 2019) which took place on June 13 and 14 in Ouagadougou, the Minister of Health, godmother of the opening ceremony and represented by the officier of the ministry took the ’commitment to include health problems linked to albinism plans to fight against non-communicable diseases, another time which was the last of priorities of the ministry.
For this it will be necessary "in the future that more investigative work is done at the level of the Ministry of Health, in the population and within households to better understand all the contours of health issues related to albinism, in order to strengthen prevention strategies for complications linked to this disability
