GAMBIA FEDERATION OF DISABLED REACHED DISABLED PEOPLE’S ORGANISATION IN THE FOUR REGIONS OF THE RURAL GAMBIA

Yet in the crusade to fight Covid19 as a deadly pandemic, On Tuesday April 21st, Gambia Federation Of Disabled embarked on a three days trekk to reach out DPOs in the rural Gambia. GFD management left the Urban Center in order to deliver food items to Disabled People’s Organisation for their members particularly those Persons With Disabilities who are the most vulnerabled.

This idea of reaching DPOS in The Rural Gambia came from one of the recommendations from its board meeting wherein the Fedration’s Board thought it plausible that all donations should not only be distributed to DPOS in the Urban Center but also to the Rural Areas wherein DPOS and PWDS need it most in light of the present crises.
The respective Regions reached by the federation were ;
Dasilameh in the North Bank Region ; in which a DPO called North Bank Disabled Organisation exist. In this region, The President of the said DPO Mr Salifu Bayo expressed appreciation by the Federation.
The Second Region reached on the same day Tuesday 21st April was Kuu Kunta Mento which is a DPO in the Central River Region. The President of its DPO called Taata Ceesay expressed delight for the humanitarian gesture.
The Third Region reached by the Federation on the next day Wednesday 22nd April was Upper River Region wherein a DPO called Rural Support Organisation for the Disabled exist. The president of the said DPO called Fatou Manneh Expressed intensed delight about the federation’s move.
The Fourth Region reached on Thursday 23rd April 2020 was Lower River Region wherein a DPO called Association Of Physically Disabled Exists. Its President called Lamin I Darboe Demonstrated his and the entire membership’s happiness about the presentation of the food materials to assist the poor PWDS.
All these DPOS in the four regions including the Chairman of the Federation prefaced that this is the first time that the federation as the umbrella federation reached the DPOS in their respective regions. Chairman who was accompanied by the First Vice chair Person Called Ejatou Jallow, Adama Sarr as Treasurer and Modou AF Bahoum as the Executive Director promised the DPOS of the Federation’s continuous support when the resources are available.
