In Cotonou from August 13 to 15, 2020, around ten people with disabilities from Benin are in training on the convention on the rights of people with disabilities and the Sustainable Development Goals. Training initiated by the West African Federation of People with Disabilities (WAFOD).

The Convention Relating to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CDPH) has been at the center of debates for several days in Cotonou.
Following a call for applications from its member DPOs, the Federation of Associations of People with Disabilities of Benin (FAPHB) in collaboration with the West African Federation of Associations of People with Disabilities (WAFOD) and Humanity Inclusion, with the technical support of International Disability Alliance (IDA) and the financial support of the European Union (EU), for a few days in Cotonou, the disabled people of Benin equip them on the convention on the rights of the disabled people.
Started from 13 to 15 August 2020 in Benin, the other countries of the region will benefit from this training which makes the link between the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
For the president of the WAFOD Maïga Idriss, the objective is to make the CRPD more accessible to all people with disabilities from different African countries in order to allow them to better understand the legal instrument to persons indicated. Put an end to prejudices, recognize human dignity, the specifics linked to the theme of disability for the inclusion of all.
The Disabled Person is a human being like any and it is essential to know the document which serves as a breviary in order to declare their rights wherever the need arises. Strong advocacy must be carried out with the authorities for the effective implementation of the CRPD in connection with the SDGs, without forgetting a wide popularization of these instruments.
According to the President of WAFOD, the primary objective is to better fit participants carrying out advocacy. After this three (3) days training, participants master the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the SDGs. Essential notions which they will make good use of and widely disseminate in their localities.
Remember that around ten participants take part in this workshop to provide feedback on the Bridge module training, held from November 2 to 8, 2019 in Niamey. They were selected following a call for applications launched by the FAPHB and come from the various departments of Benin.
In this period of the Covid-19 health pandemic, Barrier gestures, hand washing devices and the compulsory wearing of masks are strictly prescribed to Participants
