MINISTRY OF TRANSPORTATION COMPENSATED ROAD TRAFFIC VICTIMS IN THE GAMBIA

It can be recalled that, by virtue of road accidents committed by drivers against pedestrians on the road, led to many with temporary or permanent disabilities. The drivers continue to drive and commit accidents against commuters of thr roads. In spite of these accidents committed thereto, many are not compensated by drivers, ministries and other governments for the torts.

In consequence of the foregoing sympathy, the United Nations set aside in its resolution for annual observance of Road Traffic Day
Against this backdrop, The Ministry of Transportation in The Gambia set aside 2nd November, 2020 to deliver some tokens to the Road Traffic Victims especially those whose encounters led to temporary or permanent disability. This formation began as march pass to a distance from Africell on Kairaba Avenue to the Traffic Lights at the Sttandard Chattered Bank Complex wherein, many persons with disabilities as victims of road accidents explained their stories.
Ansumana Sano spoke on behalf of Persons With Disabilities. The Honourable Minister also spoke and extended to those who could not survive the accidents and to those whose accidents led to temporary or permanent disabilities.
On this day, joyously, Those victims from the provencies and the urban centres went home with food and cash package as token or compensation.
Gambia Federation of the Disabled as the Umbrella Federation expressed its intense delight to the Ministry of Transportation for organising this compensation or reparation mechanism.
