Nigeria /1st National Disability Summit, Abuja,2021.

The 1st National Disability Summit is the first of it's kind in the history of Nigeria as it pave a legacy that will never be forgotten in the sand of time.

The Summit is aimed at discussion and review of the progress and initiatives in supporting people with disabilities to maximize independence and participation by creating greater choice .

The topic and discussion point is : " Leadership and Participation of Persons with Disabilities toward an inclusive,accessible and sustainable Covid-19 World."

The important things to note at the summit are :
👉 The summit is first of it’s kind and it’s a milestone as it will make a legacy that will never be forgotten in the sand of time.
👉 His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari has championed his promised as he signed disability bill into law and went ahead and established a commission for Persons with disabilities.
👉 State that didn’t have commission were implored to do likewise.
👉 Persons with disabilities were implored to be strong to live a normal life.
👉 Persons with disabilities were empowered during COVID-19 and were Carter for.
👉 Paragraph 81 reserved 10% for PWDs to be included in workforce.

👉 No moving forward for Nigeria without Persons with disabilities.
👉 Accessibility is no longer a request but rights and obligation.
👉 Establishment of desk officers at Airport for travelling Persons with disabilities.
👉 Bank to adjust easy of wheelchair users and all other disability.
👉 There is committee decision on how to better the lives of Persons with disabilities.
👉 Nigeria won medals in many categories at the just concluded Paralympic Games, Tokyo,2021.

Launching of the following :

👉 Commission website, Disability Discrimination reporting system software, Nigeria Sign Language Dictionary, 5 years National Disability strategic plan,launching of the distribution of National Disability Certificate and launching of National disability Insurance scheme for 600 beneficiaries.

👉The commission congratulates everyone for coming to the Summit to deliberate on lives of Persons with disabilities and how to make it better.

The summit was grace by numerous dignitaries, stakeholders,disabled communities and leaders as well as media among others.

Prominent among the dignitaries are : His Excellency, Senator George Akume who ably represented His Excellency,Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Vice President, Federal Republic of Nigeria as Special Guest of Honour, we also have at the Summit Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq, Hon. Minister,Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster management and Social Development as a Chief Host.
