SIERRA LEONE UNION ON DISABILITY ISSUES (SLUDI) IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE WEST AFRICAN FEDERATION OF DISABLED (WAFOD) CONDUCTED A FOUR DAYS TRAINING ON ARTICLE WRITING IN WEBSITE FORMATION IN FREETOWN

The Sierra Leone Union on Disability Issues (SLUDI) in collaboration with the West African Federation of Disabled (WAFOD) hosted a very educative training workshop on Article writing techniques and information dissemination methods in different social medias. The four days workshop which started on the 3rd September ended on Friday 6th September 2019. The training workshop was held at the prestigious conference Hall of Sight savers, Connaught Hospital.

The PROADIPH Project is a new initiative that aims at training one Focal Point and five Editors in Article writing and information dissemination methods in all 15 West African States using PROADIPH (www.proadiph.org) portal.

Mr. Mamadou Sissoko from Mali supervised the training program. In his opening remarks, Mr. Sissoko digressed on the significance of the training and the huge benefits accruing to it. He opined that with the emergence of the internet, we are now living in a global village where there is no-longer any hidden secret. And that information dissemination is imperative to our empowerment and development. He ended his brief remarks with the handing over of seven(7) Tablets to the SLUDI president as our training tools. The Tablets which are Techno brands were in turn distributed to all the participants at the training. There were six(6) participants in the training, i.e one Focal person and 5(five)) editors.

In conclusion, what made the training very interesting was the interactive style used by Mr. Heylove R. Mark who was never tired of answering the many questions asked by participants. In addition, the delicious breakfasts and lunches severed twice on daily basis for four straight days motivated the participants to stay active throughout the training period.

Finally, the training program was significant to us in the sense that it built our capacity in new techniques in IT. Participants in Sierra Leone wish to heartily thank the WAFOD President and sponsors of this unique program.
