START NOW LAUNCHED EXTENSION OF BLIND MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME TO CENTRAL RIVER REGION OF THE GAMBIA FOR THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED STUDENTS

Start Now is a Visually Impaired Organisation established to train, teach and skill Visually Impaired Students and Persons bo be independent by the use of technologies. These uses of the different technologies can be meaningful for visually impaired in schools, work places and homes by the visually impaired without necessarily depending much on the sighted counterparts or without even depending on them at all.

Start Now is founded by a Visually Impaired Person Called Alieu Jaiteh who has a dream of changing what it means to be visually impaired by the effective and efficient use of different adoptable technologies. Since its inception, Start Now has trained and skilled many visually impaired persons who have become and are becoming many blinds effective and trained in schools, at work places and even some of whom are performing in work sectors with the use of computer with screen materials, scanners, the use of braille machine and by extension, the use of smat phones with special accessible voice installed in it.
Start Now is indeed successful in the West Coast Region of The Gambia, last year of 2019, it was launched in Uper River Region where many visually impaired students in schools were trained and benifitted therefrom.
This year, although, Coronavirus hardly hit and slowed down processes, Start Now is indeed successful to ensuring that it launched Blind Mentorship Programme to the Central River River Region of The Gambia. It has introduced many blinds and other visually impaired students with technologies such as laptops and desk tops, use of scanners, braille machines and many. The school teachers, and the field workers expressed satisfaction and hope from Start Now for such initiative and expressed hope in their visually impaired children to achieving education.
