UNITED NATIONS OFFICE AND ITS AGENCIES IN THE GAMBIA ENGAGED PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES AND GOVERNMENT STAKEHOLDERS ON COMMON COUNTRY ANALYSIS

The United Nations Office in the Gambia with its agencies engaged Government Ministries, Civil Society Organisations, Persons With Disabilities and other maginalised groups on Common Country Analysis. The aim is to get First Hand Information on challenges faced by the disadvantaged groups in The Gambia such as, Persons With Disabilities, Women, Children, the Poor, The Elderly to share their experiences with others and possibly, solutions to these problems.

Many maginalised groups including Persons With Disabilities complained of lack of Money, lack of employment, Opportunities and non inclusion in to decision making processes, planning, programming and policies. Many said during this covid19, life becomes very difficult in that, even their free movement to places of business and earnings were curtailed or restricted by the declaration of state of emergencies and the imposition of curfew by the president of the republic and thus, makes life difficult.
The UN and Its Agencies and Government Ministries who participated on the forum promised to deeply look in to the challenges and experiences and come up with tangible solutions to them to uplift the lives of the maginalised groups.
