4 VISUALLY IMPAIRED CHILDREN FROM GOVI SCHOOL FOR THE BLIND AWARDED SCHOLARSHIP TO STUDY ISLAMIC EDUCATION IN SOUTH AFRICA

As part of the effort of Gambia Organisation Of Visually Impaired to advocate the realisation of the right of education of Visually Impaired as per its constitution, Constitution of The Gambia and by extension, UNCRPD, South African Islamic Institute awarded scholarship to 4 students all of whom are children with visual impairment study Islamic Education in South Africa.

The said students are to spend 5 years to study Holly Quran and its related subject to Islamic Education. The parents of these children have given their full consent to allow these students to undergo studies abroad. Alll the parents, have echored similar sentiments that, such award will indeed pave a way for their children to make meaningful life after the graduation of which they will also live independent.
It is part of the School curriculums of The Gambia to teach students Islamic Studies, Christian Studies and perhaps other religions depending on the curcumstances. The constitution of The Gambia in Section 25 provides for Freedom of Religion.
The names of the four children captured are;
Baboucarr Tunkara
Alasan Jobe.
Ahmed Bensauda.
Ebrima Ceesay.
