30 Persons with Disabilities Trained as Social Entrepreneurs

Disabled people who were training was given the opportunity to apply for grant and load for sustainable livelihood

On Monday, July 1st - 5th, 2019, AIFO-Liberia in partnership with the Business Startup Center (BSC) conducted a one week residential step down training in Social Enterprise and Inclusive Business in Ganta, Nimba County, Liberia. The training was held at the Kuku Nest Guest House and over 30 persons with disabilities participated in the exercise. The lead facilitattors were persons with disabilities, mostly physically chellange from the National Union of Organizations of the Disabled (NUOD), the Nimba Disabled Community (NDC), and the Liberia Laber Congress (LLC).

The goal of the training courses on social entrepreneurship is to provide the beneficiaries knowledge, tools and skills to make them able to draw up functional Business Plans for sustainable Start Ups

Business Startup Center, BSC provided technical support. Following the training, it is anticipated that start up grants and/or loans will be subsequently provided to successful organisations or groups of persons with disabilities who will be submitting a successful business idea/plan.
