A PERSON WITH DISABILITY INAUGURATED PRIVATE RADIO STATION

For the first time in the history of The Gambia, a Person With Disability herein called Njol Gai inaugurated a Radio Station called Fayda (1) FM. The inauguration of the station was held at Welengara Junction on the 20th day of August 2020.

The objectives of the Radio Station are to ;

Serve as advocacy platform to inform the society to respect, promote and protect the inherent, inalienable and fundamental rights and freedoms of Persons With Disabilities.
To discuss challenges faced by Persons With Disabilities ;
To engage the Government, Non Governmental Organisation and other authorities with disability issues ;
To provide solutions to the challenges face by Persons With Disabilities ;
To also create employment for Persons With Disabilities at the said Radio Station.
To popularise Disability Issues.

In supporting and evidencing the employment aspect herein the proprietor of the Radio Station Mr Njol Gai already employed three Persons With Disabilities to be part of the operation of the Radio Station and advocacy purpose. Those Persons With Disabilities currently employed in the Radio Station are ;

Sainabou ; She is responsible for advocacy purposes. She is physically challenged.
Lamin who is also handicapped and Amadou. He is the one responsible for the operation of the Radio Transmiter. He limps and uses clutches to assist him in walking
The proprietor himself Mr Njol Gai is a wheelchair user.
