Disability and humanitarian crisis

In emergency situations, appropriate measures must be taken to protect zone of the most affected as people with disabilities.

Disability and emergency
In 2006, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This Convention, which does not create new rights, has just reaffirmed the human rights of persons with disabilities so that they enjoy all human rights and fundamental freedoms on the basis of equality with others.
Thus, Article 11 of this Convention speaks of "situation of risk and situation of humanitarian emergency". As we know, international humanitarian law generally protects all people in crisis.
In this regard, the Convention has reaffirmed the right of persons with disabilities to be protected in the event of risk and of humanitarian emergency by requiring States Parties to take the necessary measures to protect persons with disabilities in these situations.
Two things are worth noting :
First, disabled people being full-fledged citizen, like all other people, must benefit from all the protective measures that will be taken within the framework of the commitments contained in treaties and conventions relating to international humanitarian law and the international human rights.
Next, States must take the necessary protective measures because of the situation of people with disabilities.
