GAMBIA FEDERATION OF THE DISABLED ENGAGED IN VIRTUAL DIALOGUE ON THE GAMBIA’S RESPONDS TO COVID19 AND ITS IMPACTS ON PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Gambia Federation Of The Disabled with its affiliates such as the British High Commission, West Minster Foundation For Democracy and Special Needs Education Units held virtual dialogue on the impact of Covid19 on Persons With Disabilities in The Gambia. This virtual dialogue was attended by Persons With Disabilities from all the 16 Disabled Peopled Organisations in The Gambia.

During this virtual meeting, PWDS pointed out that, the impact of Covid19 impacted both positively and negatively in their lives such as;
Posing hunger, Posing Economic hardship, Slowing their educational efficacy, Transportation, unemployment, subject to Genda Based Violence etc. It also include, lack of information in appropriate formats etc.
Lack of access to social services, by the Gambia Government and other stakeholders were all the factors pointed out by the Persons With Disabilities in this virtual meeting.
In spite of these terrible anomalies, Persons With Disabilities are with the opinion that, at the end of the day, something tangible will come up to salvage them from the frustration.
