GAMBIA FEDERATION OF THE DISABLED PRESENTED FACEMASKS TO ITS DPOS AFFILIATES IN THE RURAL GAMBIA

Since the Global Pandemic known as Coronavirus came to light, it claimed many lives and continue to claim lives, World Health Organisation, many International Health Authorities including Ministry Of Health of The Gambia cautioned everyone to observe social distancing, washing up hands, avoid large gatherings and by extension, wear facemasks. Pursuant to these conditions, The Gambia Government introduced regulations such as wearing of facemasks non compliance of which if anyone goes contrary shall face prosecution in court of law and may pay a fine of D5000 Gambian Dalasis.

Against this backdrop, Gambia Federation of the Disabled being the Umbrella Federation representing the voice of All Persons With Disabilities in The Gambia deemed it necessary to ensuring that Persons With Disabilities in The Gambia through their respective DPOS are presented some facemasks in order to prevent the PWDS of this deathly decease. In light of the foregoing consideration, the federation again deemed it convenient that it reaches various DPOS in four regions of the rural Gambia such As;
North Bank Region, Central River Region, Upper River Region and Lower River region respectively. In spite of the introduction of the facemasks to the public as compulsory condition, the federation knows that PWDS in the rural Gambia are the most ones who will find it hard to access the facemasks. In light of this well thought conclusion, the federation presented the facemasks and hand sanitisers to its DPOS affiliates for their members and cautioned them to use for prevention.
